This scene was a really fun build! I may just remake it in another set of tools very soon. Using Maya and V-Ray I produced a basic scene, with Candles, the Lament Configuration and an unusually clean attic floor... why? The Lament Configuration itself was built using illustrator Vectors converted to curves with Maya tools, then extruded and cleaned up. After effects was used to compile the image sequence into the final renders with a simple grade and no extra effects. Flames of the candles were just illuminated 2D cards with a wave deformer. The silhouette of the main cenobite appears out of the shadows as time skips a beat, indicating the box has been opened. This film was a classic take on the 'Monster in the House' for those who read 'Save the Cat' by Blake Snyder. A must read for those working in Film & VFX or who want to write screenplays.
Audio included! "The Box, You opened it, we came" - Rendered in V-Ray. As if time itself skipped a beat, the Lament Configuration opens, the Cenobite appears
